Step into an engaging educational environment supporting a small group of exceptional learners in a K-2 multi-needs classroom. This full-time, in-person contract opportunity runs from August 1st through September 23rd, with the potential for extension. You’ll be leading a self-contained class of four students with significant disabilities, providing individualized instruction and care in a rewarding, supportive setting.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid Special Education certification required
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, ideally with early elementary (K-2) students
- Strong understanding of multi-needs or low-incidence populations
- Demonstrated ability to implement IEPs and adapt curriculum for varying learning needs
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to fostering inclusive environments
- Flexibility and compassion in handling diverse student abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP goals
- Develop and organize engaging lesson plans tailored to student abilities and developmental levels
- Utilize a variety of teaching techniques and strategies to support communication, functional, and life skills
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and support staff to create a cohesive learning space
- Maintain clear and positive communication with families, providing regular updates on progress
- Manage behavior and support emotional regulation through evidence-based practices
- Document progress and participate in relevant meetings or professional development as needed
