Step into a role supporting students with diverse learning needs in a welcoming school environment near Naperville, IL. This full-time contract opportunity involves working within two distinct special education settings: Hermansen Elementary and Martinez Middle School.

At Hermansen Elementary, you’ll manage a self-contained STLR (Structured Teaching and Learning Rooms) program designed for students with Autism and Functional Communication needs, with a manageable caseload of 10-13 students. Meanwhile, at Martinez Middle School, you will collaborate as a co-teacher within the Supported Education program, supporting up to 13 students in an inclusive classroom.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification
  • Previous experience working with students with Autism and/or functional communication needs preferred
  • Familiarity with co-teaching models and inclusive educational practices
  • Ability to create and follow individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to student needs
  • Foster a structured, supportive environment that enhances student learning and growth
  • Use evidence-based strategies to address functional communication and social-emotional development
  • Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to optimize student success
  • Monitor progress and adapt instruction based on data and student response
