This contract opportunity is tailored for an experienced 4th grade ELA Special Education Teacher for the 26/27 school year, focusing on co-teaching and resource support with an 80/20 instructional split. The school is located conveniently near the heart of DC.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Special Education teaching license; educators with out-of-state certification are welcome to apply, though candidates licensed in the DMV area are especially encouraged.
  • Experience co-teaching in upper elementary ELA or working in a resource capacity.
  • Strong classroom management abilities and a collaborative approach to teaching.
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and fellow educators.
  • Proficiency in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies for diverse learning needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with a general education teacher to deliver ELA content in a co-teaching model, focusing approximately 80% of your time on co-teaching and 20% on small group or resource interventions.
  • Plan differentiated lessons and accommodations for students with IEPs, ensuring access to grade-level content.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to IEP meetings and documentation as needed.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom setting.
  • Maintain consistent communication with families and collaborate with team members to support student success.
  • Fulfill contractual hours from 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week, for the duration of the school year.
