Step into a rewarding teaching opportunity supporting 5th and 6th grade students in an academically advanced environment near Naval Anacost Annex, DC. This contract position is perfect for educators passionate about collaborative teaching and making a real difference in the lives of students with special needs.

In this role, you will coteach math alongside a dynamic team, serving students who are working one to two grades above typical grade level. The daily schedule consists of four 50-minute math periods focusing on Accelerated Math 5 for 5th grade and Prealgebra for 6th grade, using the Invision math program. Two additional 50-minute periods are dedicated exclusively to co-planning, ensuring you have the support and time needed for effective collaboration.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification in Special Education.
  • Previous experience teaching math at the elementary or middle school level, preferably in a co-teaching model.
  • Strong background in IEP writing and implementing individualized supports.
  • Familiarity with teaching in accelerated or advanced academic settings is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective parent and team interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coteach 5th and 6th grade math classes with an emphasis on student growth and engagement.
  • Deliver targeted pull-out math SDI (Specially Designed Instruction) to approximately six students.
  • Manage a caseload of eight to ten students, ensuring their IEPs are accurate and up to date.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers during protected co-planning time.
  • Maintain clear, responsive communication with families and school staff.

This role offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule (8:00 AM–4:00 PM) and begins immediately, running through December 18, 2026.
