Special Education Teacher | Nebo, North Carolina

This contract opportunity runs full-time from now through late May 2027, with a standard Monday through Friday schedule consisting of 40 hours per week. You’ll take on a vital role in either an elementary structured support classroom or a middle school co-teaching setting, both situated in a vibrant educational community near Nebo, NC.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Experience working in K-12 special education settings
• Solid understanding of managing mild behavioral needs and providing individualized support
• Comfort with assisting students with toileting needs
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a team that may include teaching assistants, behavior technicians, and co-teachers
• Compassion, flexibility, and excellent communication skills

What You Will Do:

• Deliver specialized instruction and create a supportive, structured classroom environment for students with varying needs
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with related service providers and families
• Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living, including toileting support (no feeding responsibilities except for overseeing one student with a feeding tube in the middle school setting)
• Foster positive student engagement while addressing each learner’s unique strengths and challenges
• Coordinate closely with teaching assistants and support staff to optimize student success
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in meetings with staff and families
