Special Education Teacher - New Bedford, MA

Exciting opportunities are available for passionate Special Education Teachers interested in making a meaningful impact for the upcoming 26/27 school year. This contract role involves working in a supportive educational environment near New Bedford, MA. Several positions are open in both K-12 inclusion classrooms and sub separate settings, with immediate priority given to sub separate roles, particularly those supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and social-emotional needs.

You will work alongside dedicated paraprofessionals—2-3 per classroom—and benefit from the expertise of supervisors, BCBAs, and social workers, ensuring a collaborative and resource-rich environment.

Desired Qualifications:

• Licensure or certification as a Special Education Teacher (or eligibility to obtain)
• Previous experience working in K-12 settings, preferably with students in sub separate or inclusion roles
• Knowledge of working with students with ASD and/or social-emotional needs is highly valued
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to fostering inclusive and growth-oriented learning environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students
• Deliver specially designed instruction in both inclusion and sub separate classrooms
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to address diverse needs
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, support staff, and families for student success
• Monitor and assess student progress, updating records and plans accordingly
• Create a positive, safe, and structured classroom atmosphere
