This contract opportunity centers on an Elementary Structured Learning Classroom (SLC) designed for students—primarily with Autism—in grades 1, 2, and 4. You’ll play a key part in a reversed inclusion classroom model, using the general education curriculum to fully support diverse learning needs.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with a lead general education teacher, two dedicated classroom paraprofessionals, and work one-on-one with students as needed. The approach emphasizes flexible pull-out support for sensory needs, behavioral interventions, and subjects where extra guidance is beneficial—ensuring each student receives individualized attention while remaining engaged in the general education environment.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Previous experience supporting students with Autism preferred
- Knowledge of elementary-level general education curriculum
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication and organization skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for a caseload of 8 students (grades 1, 2, 4)
- Develop and implement individualized instructional and behavioral plans
- Coordinate pull-out sessions for targeted academic or sensory support
- Track student progress and communicate effectively with team members and families
- Promote integration and inclusion for students within the general education setting
