A middle school special education opportunity is available for a long-term substitute serving students in grades 6-8. This role involves delivering focused instruction in math, reading, writing, life skills, and social skills within a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide special education instruction tailored to middle school students, including those with autism.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs.
- Attend Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings.
- Collaborate with staff to support student progress.
- Use designated planning time effectively to prepare lessons and instructional materials.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education licensure for grades 6-8.
- Proven experience working with middle school students diagnosed with autism.
- Strong skills in delivering math, reading, writing, life skills, and social skills instruction.
- Ability to write detailed IEPs and actively participate in PPT meetings.
Position Details:
- Location: New Britain, CT
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM
- Contract Type: Long-term substitute; school year duration with start date ASAP and end date TBD based on leave status.
- Age Range: Middle school students, grades 6-8
This contract position offers a competitive hourly wage range of $34-$44, with placement for the 2025-26 school year. Interested candidates should be prepared for an initial phone screening.
