An immediate opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support a resource classroom serving approximately 20 students in grades K-12. This contract position is based in New Britain, CT, and primarily focuses on working with sixth graders in a middle school setting. The role covers a maternity leave period from May 4th through to the end of the school year, around June 12th.

Key responsibilities include delivering specialized instruction and adapting curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. The teacher will work collaboratively with general education staff and participate in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure compliance and promote student growth.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience with resource room instruction and managing a caseload of around 20 students
  • Familiarity with K-12 special education best practices
  • Training in Wilson Reading Program is highly desirable, but the employer is willing to consider candidates without this certification
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication skills and team collaboration
