Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for a full-time contract position near New Britain, CT. This is a unique opportunity to make an impact while covering a maternity leave in a dedicated resource room setting for grades 6-8. The assignment runs from late September through the end of December, providing essential continuity and care to students and their families during this period.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Prior experience with middle school-aged students preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Instruct and oversee a resource room caseload of approximately 20 students in grades 6-8
- Develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Deliver direct instruction and support in alignment with IEP goals
- Progress monitor, document student achievement, and report regularly to administration and families
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and support staff
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment for all learners
