Special Education Teacher | New Britain, Connecticut

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students in grades 6-8 as a Special Education Teacher for a full-time, onsite contract position. This role covers a maternity leave from late September through the end of December, providing highly valued educational support at the middle school level. You'll work with a resource room model and occasionally co-teach, helping students navigate academic and developmental challenges in a nurturing environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Current Connecticut Special Education (SPED) License is required
• Experience working with middle school students, particularly grades 6-8, is preferred
• Strong understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and compliance standards
• Effective classroom management skills and an adaptable mindset
• Ability to collaborate with general education teachers and multidisciplinary team members
• Compassionate, patient, and committed to fostering student growth

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage and support a caseload of 20 students, providing direct instructional services
• Deliver specialized instruction in a resource room setting and through co-teaching arrangements
• Monitor, document, and report student progress in alignment with IEP goals
• Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and instructional teams
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate actively in IEP development and meetings
