Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students in grades 6-8 as a Special Education Teacher for a full-time, onsite contract position. This role covers a maternity leave from late September through the end of December, providing highly valued educational support at the middle school level. You'll work with a resource room model and occasionally co-teach, helping students navigate academic and developmental challenges in a nurturing environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Connecticut Special Education (SPED) License is required
- Experience working with middle school students, particularly grades 6-8, is preferred
- Strong understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and compliance standards
- Effective classroom management skills and an adaptable mindset
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers and multidisciplinary team members

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage and support a caseload of 20 students, providing direct instructional services
- Deliver specialized instruction in a resource room setting and through co-teaching arrangements
- Monitor, document, and report student progress in alignment with IEP goals
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and instructional teams
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate actively in IEP development and meetings
