Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification for Connecticut (or eligible for certification)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in a special education environment
- Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning needs and utilize a range of classroom management techniques
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs and educational best practices
- Assess students’ academic and functional performance, tracking progress and adjusting plans as needed
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and growth
- Collaborate with support staff, related service providers, and parents to address student needs
- Document interventions, maintain records, and participate in IEP meetings as required
