This rewarding contract opportunity, located near New Britain, CT, is designed for a dedicated Special Education Teacher ready to provide support, structure, and inspiration to students with ASD.
Essential Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Previous experience working with students on the autism spectrum
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention strategies
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students in a K-5 self-contained ASD classroom
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student’s needs and goals
- Employ evidence-based practices and interventions for children with ASD
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Collect and analyze data to guide instructional decisions and progress monitoring
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary team members to promote student growth
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and ongoing training
