Special Education Teacher - New Britain, Connecticut

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification in the state of Connecticut (or eligible for certification)
• Prior experience working in a special education classroom or with students who have a range of disabilities
• Knowledge of IEP development, goal setting, and progress monitoring
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff, parents, and support personnel
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to student-centered instruction
• Ability to create and implement effective classroom management strategies

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
• Deliver engaging instruction across various academic and functional skill areas
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student success
• Track, assess, and document student progress towards IEP goals
• Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student growth and challenges
