Special Education Teacher in New Brunswick, NJ

Make a difference in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher supporting an autism classroom for students in kindergarten through third grade. This rewarding contract opportunity begins as soon as possible and runs through the end of the school year, offering full-time hours from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Ideal candidates will bring passion, patience, and expertise in special education, specifically working with children on the autism spectrum. As part of a dedicated team, you’ll help create an inclusive, supportive environment where every child can make meaningful progress.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification for grades K-3
• Proven experience working with students diagnosed with autism
• Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills
• Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and school staff
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEPs
• Develop lesson plans that support both academic and social-emotional growth
• Collaborate with support staff to adapt curriculum and implement best practices
• Utilize effective strategies for behavior management and positive reinforcement
• Foster a safe, positive classroom culture that values each student’s strengths
• Maintain accurate student records and provide progress updates to families and colleagues
