Middle School Special Education Teacher - New Haven, CT

Step into a rewarding role supporting middle school students with special needs in a well-established program. This full-time contract position offers the chance to directly impact a group of 10-12 students, working collaboratively in a positive, team-oriented environment. You'll be integral to a multidisciplinary team that includes a school social worker, literacy coach, math teacher, BCBA, behavior technicians, and a teacher assistant—all dedicated to ensuring each student's growth and success.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teaching licensure
• Experience with middle school-aged students preferred
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to adapt instructional strategies for individualized learning needs
• Experience engaging in IEP processes and goal setting
• Positive, proactive approach with a passion for inclusive education

Responsibilities:

• Deliver differentiated instruction tailored for students with diverse learning needs
• Collaborate actively with team members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Foster a welcoming, structured, and supportive classroom environment
• Engage in ongoing communication with families and related service providers
• Track student progress, document observations, and adjust instruction as needed
• Implement the latest best practices in special education and behavior management
