Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a resource setting for either upper elementary (4th/5th grade) or middle (7th/8th grade) levels near New Haven, CT. This opportunity runs from August 25, 2026 (or as soon as available), through June 7, 2027. You’ll be instrumental in shaping student success in an inclusive, nurturing environment, fostering both academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted instruction in a resource classroom, focusing on small group and individual student support
  • Deliver both push-in and primarily pull-out services based on IEPs and student needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and related services staff to tailor instructional strategies
  • Develop, implement, and monitor goals and accommodations as outlined in each student’s IEP
  • Engage constructively with students, families, and educational teams to maximize learning outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with special education laws, documentation requirements, and school policies

Qualifications:

  • Active Connecticut teaching license with 165 or 265 Special Education endorsement
  • Prior experience working with 4th/5th or 7th/8th grade students in a resource, push-in, or pull-out setting preferred
  • Solid understanding of IEP processes, goal writing, and progress monitoring
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic educational settings

Enjoy a predictable weekday schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:15 AM–3:45 PM (35 hours per week, half-hour unpaid lunch). Compensation ranges from $40–$55 per hour, based on experience and credentials.
