Take on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students with special needs in grades 2-5 as a Special Education Teacher. Collaborate with a dedicated team in a supportive learning center environment serving a caseload of students primarily identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). You’ll work alongside five skilled paraeducators to provide individualized and small group instruction that makes a difference every day.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification or eligibility to obtain in Connecticut
- Demonstrated experience working with elementary students with ASD and SLD preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and data-driven instruction
- Ability to foster an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with students, families, and staff
- Adaptability and organization in managing caseloads and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver specially designed instructional plans per student IEPs for a caseload starting at 9 students, with the potential to increase by 1-2
- Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for learning and social-emotional growth
- Collaborate with paraeducators to implement individualized supports, accommodations, and modifications
- Conduct assessments, collect data, and update progress reports to ensure student goals are met
- Actively participate in IEP meetings, team discussions, and ongoing professional development
- Maintain open communication with families and service providers to support student success
