Job Type Contract

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students in a dynamic special education environment. This contract role offers the chance to meaningfully impact students in either 4th/5th or 7th/8th grade, with schedules tailored to your strengths and preferences. Your expertise will shine in a resource classroom, providing both individualized support and guidance to paraprofessionals.

This position runs from August 25, 2026 (or sooner, if available) through June 7, 2027, and features a consistent 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM EST (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break). You'll have creative control in building your schedule around student needs and protected time for planning, progress monitoring, and IEP writing.

What we're looking for:

  • Current Connecticut Special Education certification (165 or 265 required)
  • Experience teaching special education across a range of grade levels (4th–5th or 7th–8th preferred)
  • Ability to manage and instruct small caseloads of 12–15 students with significant service minutes
  • Skilled in pull-out resource instruction, with some push-in support as needed
  • Proven capability in supervising paraprofessionals
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, individualized education and maintaining compliance with IEP processes
  • Unfortunately, this opportunity does not accommodate DSAP credential holders

Role responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction in a resource setting, focused mainly on small group pull-out sessions
  • Provide occasional push-in support within general education classrooms
  • Design and implement effective IEPs, progress monitoring, and documentation
  • Oversee and mentor assigned paraprofessionals
  • Engage collaboratively with school staff and families

Experience the satisfaction of supporting students' growth with a low-caseload, high-impact assignment. If you're eager to contribute your skills in a supportive setting with dedicated planning time, submit your application today and help students succeed.

Compensation for this position ranges from $31.34 to $51.34. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
