Special Education Teacher

A school district in East Haven, CT, is now looking to hire a Special Education Teacher for a current, full-time opening supporting elementary students for the 2026 school year. This position will work with 3rd and 4th grade students and requires a teacher who is experienced in providing specialized instruction and behavioral support strategies. Responsibilities:

Provide specialized instruction and support for 3rd and 4th grade students receiving special education services.
Develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with student IEP goals.
Utilize applied behavioral analysis (ABA) strategies and discrete trial instruction techniques to support student learning and development.
Collaborate with classroom staff, related service providers, and families to promote student success.
Manage classroom routines and create a structured, supportive learning environment.
Complete required documentation and participate in the Connecticut IEP process.

Experience:

Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in a special education setting preferred.
Experience with applied behavioral analysis (ABA) and discrete trial instruction required.
Familiarity with the Connecticut IEP system preferred.

Education:

Valid Connecticut Special Education Teaching Certification required.

Employment Type: Full-time, Contract

Contract Dates: August 2026 – June 2027

Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 2:45 PM

Grade Levels: 3rd–4th Grade

Pay: 35+/hr
