Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification for Pennsylvania
  • Experience with individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting curriculum for diverse learning needs
  • Familiarity with cognitive disabilities, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), and use of communication devices (AAC)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, 1:1 staff, and families
  • Skills in behavioral management with patience and empathy
  • Dedication to inclusive education and student empowerment

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering engaging, adapted academic instruction to students with varying cognitive and communication abilities
  • Coordinating with in-class paraprofessionals and 1:1 staff to support individual learner needs in Life Skills or Autism Support settings
  • Working with 9th-11th grade students for Life Skills, or Middle/High School students for Autism Support, or 2nd–3rd grade students in Elementary Autism Support
  • Monitoring progress and updating IEPs in collaboration with the support team
  • Maintaining a structured classroom environment promoting social, emotional, and academic growth
  • Utilizing a daily schedule: Secondary assignments run 7:25 am–2:45 pm, Elementary assignment is 8:15 am–3:45 pm, each with a dedicated prep period and a 30-minute lunch
  • Providing proactive support for behavioral challenges when they arise
