A rewarding opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support students in a Middle School Life Skills classroom. This full-time, contract position focuses on providing tailored educational experiences for students in grades 6 through 8 within a self-contained setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized instruction aligned with Life Skills curriculum to promote student growth
- Writing, reviewing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet each student’s unique needs
- Collaborating with school staff and families to foster supportive learning environments
- Tracking student progress and adjusting instructional strategies accordingly
- Maintaining a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
Desired qualifications:
- Experience working with middle school students in a special education Life Skills classroom
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families
- Patience, creativity, and dedication to supporting student success
Location: New London, CT
Assignment duration: Contract through the end of the current school year, starting as soon as possible
