Step into a vital role supporting students by teaching in a Middle School Life Skills classroom. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work full-time with grades 6–8 in a self-contained environment, focused on empowering learners with diverse educational needs. The contract runs from as soon as possible through the end of the school year, offering a meaningful chance to make an impact for the remainder of the academic term.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility in Connecticut)
  • Experience with middle school students, preferably in Life Skills or self-contained settings
  • Strong understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): creation, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet a variety of learning needs
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction to middle school students in a self-contained Life Skills classroom
  • Develop, write, and monitor IEPs to ensure compliance and student growth
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student independence and self-advocacy
  • Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, related service providers, and parents
  • Implement accommodations, modifications, and individualized supports as needed
  • Track and document student progress, making adjustments to plans as required
