Special Education Teacher - New London, Connecticut

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher for high school level (or eligibility for certification)
• Demonstrated experience in a high school resource or co-teaching classroom for position one
• Background supporting students in a self-contained setting for neurodiverse populations preferred for position two
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Ability to cultivate inclusive, dynamic learning environments
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, families, and support staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small group instruction aligned with IEP goals
• Maintain compliance with all special education documentation and legal requirements
• Work alongside general education teachers to co-plan and adapt curriculum in a resource/co-teaching setting
• Provide comprehensive support in a self-contained classroom, addressing academic, behavioral, and social needs
• Foster self-advocacy and social-emotional skills to prepare students for success beyond high school
• Engage regularly with parents and outside service providers to address each learner’s unique needs
