Special Education Teacher | New Milford, Connecticut

Located close to New Milford, CT, this is a contract opportunity working 35 hours per week with dedicated paraeducator support in your classroom, allowing you to focus on individualized instruction and fostering a positive learning environment.

Qualifications:

• Valid and current Connecticut State Certification as a Special Education Teacher is required
• Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs is strongly preferred
• Ability to differentiate instructional strategies to accommodate various learning styles
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, both with students and multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
• Work closely with paraeducators to provide classroom support and facilitate student learning
• Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and updating IEPs as required
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support academic and social-emotional growth
• Adapt curriculum and modify instructional resources to meet students’ unique needs
• Participate in IEP meetings and ongoing professional development
