Seeking a skilled Special Education Teacher for a contract role serving students in a dynamic school environment near New Orleans, LA, for the 2026–2027 academic year. In this position, you'll foster inclusive educational experiences and work collaboratively with other professionals to support students’ diverse learning needs. The opportunity runs from August 3, 2026, to May 27, 2027, with a consistent 35-hour workweek (7 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch).

Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education Certificate with Special Education endorsement (no TA or TAT recognized)
  • Strong background in special education instruction, ideally within Louisiana schools
  • Ability to adapt quickly and effectively in new educational settings
  • Must clear a district-specific drug screen and fingerprinting process, in addition to standard credentialing
  • Immediate availability with current certifications is crucial; the district is seeking candidates who are ready to begin without licensing delays

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with a variety of special needs (age/grade levels and caseload will be confirmed)
  • Develop, implement, and regularly assess Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, specialists, and families to create supportive learning environments
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws and district policies
  • Participate actively in professional meetings, trainings, and multidisciplinary teams
