This contract-based opportunity for a Special Education Teacher offers a chance to make meaningful impacts in elementary classrooms across multiple locations in a supportive school community near Newark, NJ. The position is full-time, following the full school year calendar, with immediate start and lasting through June 23, 2027.

You’ll serve a caseload of 30–40 elementary students, delivering tailored instruction and conducting essential educational evaluations. The schedule runs from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. You'll rotate among several sites, maintaining a home base at Colonial Middle School (services provided at other locations).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Holds valid New Jersey teaching certification in Special Education (Learning Disability Teacher-Consultant)
  • Experience performing and interpreting educational evaluations is required
  • Background in elementary special education, ideally with multi-site or itinerant experience
  • Familiarity with disability-specific supports, IEP development, and evidence-based interventions
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and families
  • Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning needs across multiple school sites
  • NJ Tech Cert is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group instruction to meet IEP goals
  • Conduct formal evaluations, report findings, and contribute to eligibility and placement decisions
  • Create differentiated lesson plans and modify curriculum to suit various learning abilities
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, staff, and administrators
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with state and district guidelines
