Grades 6 - 8 Certified Special Education Teacher - Newburgh, NY

Make a difference in students’ lives by delivering personalized special education services in a dynamic, supportive environment. This contract position focuses on providing dedicated instruction and tailored interventions to small classroom groups. You’ll work with a range of ages, concentrating on preschool through third grade, as well as older students aged 12 to 22, guiding diverse learners towards their fullest potential.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification for relevant grade levels (K-5, 6-8, or 9-12)
• Master’s degree in Education
• Experience teaching children at various developmental and academic levels, including students with verbal and non-verbal communication styles
• Skilled in classroom management with strategies for supporting students who exhibit behavioral challenges
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, nurturing learning setting

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction and adapt curriculum to meet individual education plans (IEPs) for a caseload of 6-8 students, with support from a team (3 staff per class)
• Employ a variety of communication techniques and differentiated teaching methods
• Collaborate with staff and families to create individualized strategies and positive outcomes
• Maintain detailed records on progress, behaviors, and IEP goals
• Participate in ongoing training for behavioral interventions and professional development

Hours & Schedule:

• Full-time, 35 hours per week
• Multiple classroom shifts: 8:00 am–3:30 pm or 8:30 am–4:00 pm
• Contract runs until June 26, 2026, with opportunities to participate in a 6-week summer program
