Special Education Teacher in Newport News, VA

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching license with a Special Education endorsement
• Required: adaptive curriculum endorsement on license
• Previous experience working in elementary or self-contained classrooms preferred
• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and curriculum adaptation
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to diverse learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction to K-5 students in a self-contained classroom using adaptive curriculum strategies
• Develop and implement IEPs aligned with student strengths and needs
• Closely monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods as necessary
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure consistent support and a positive learning environment
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere that promotes student engagement and achievement
