This role offers the opportunity to guide and encourage students with mild to moderate exceptional needs in a self-contained classroom environment. As an EC SPED Teacher, you’ll be part of a dedicated team focused on empowering students to achieve their fullest potential.
Your commitment will span the entire 2026-2027 academic year, from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 7:15am to 3:15pm, giving you the structure and stability to connect deeply with your 12 students and your colleagues.
Desired Background:
- Valid Special Education teaching credentials or eligibility recognized in North Carolina
- Prior experience working with middle school students, especially in self-contained settings
- Expertise supporting students identified with mild to moderate exceptional needs
- Ability to implement IEPs and collaborate with families, specialists, and staff
- Proven classroom management skills and skill in fostering an inclusive, nurturing environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to a middle school caseload of 12 students in a self-contained classroom
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Foster academic, social, and emotional growth for each student
- Create engaging lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and needs
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and strategies for success
- Document progress, maintain records, and participate in student planning meetings
