In this contract position near Norwalk, CT, you will support learners in either a self-contained classroom (serving around 8 students) or provide specialized instruction in resource/co-teaching settings with groups of 20-25. Your primary subjects will include English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, offering you the chance to use your talents across core academic areas.

This role emphasizes direct instruction, student progress monitoring, and active participation in collaborative educational planning. Key duties involve authoring and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), participating in and presenting at IEP meetings, conducting student assessments, and tracking progress toward instructional goals. The administrative aspect of case management will be handled by district-level staff, enabling you to focus on student engagement and tailored instruction.

What we’re looking for:

  • Active Connecticut Special Education Endorsement
  • At least two years of recent special education teaching experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and implementing IEPs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for supporting diverse learning needs in both self-contained and co-teaching environments
