This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to support an elementary specialized social-emotional program in a school located in Ledyard, CT. This position is a maternity leave contract starting in early May through late June, with potential for schedule extensions. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including a colleague teacher, BCBA, social worker, and paraeducators.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs within the social-emotional program
- Manage a small caseload of approximately 4 students in grades 3–5, with flexibility as the program develops
- Update and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and participate in planning and PPT (Planning and Placement Team) meetings
- Provide brief staff management to coordinate support personnel and optimize instructional delivery
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification or licensure
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in social-emotional learning environments
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Strong organizational skills for IEP documentation and program management
Location & Schedule:
- Position based in Ledyard, CT
- Contract hours are 6.5 hours daily, typically from 8:20 AM to 3:30 PM (32.5 hours per week)
- Start date is flexible with official start around May 11; contract concludes June 24 with potential for extension
