Special Education Teacher in Norwich, CT

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education (required)
• Experience working with neuro-diverse high school students preferred
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Strong classroom management skills and a compassionate, student-centered approach
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other educators, therapists, and families

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead instruction in a self-contained classroom from 7:35am to 2:30pm daily
• Create and adapt lesson plans targeting diverse learning abilities and goals
• Implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Develop a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment
• Communicate regularly with families and support staff regarding student progress
• Participate actively in team meetings and ongoing professional development
