Special Education Teacher | Oak Creek, Wisconsin

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher, guiding students in a self-contained emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) classroom. This contract role, near Oak Creek, WI, will have you working closely with a small group of students (starting with 3, with the potential to grow to 6-7), supported by a dedicated classroom aide. You’ll play a key part in helping students reach their full potential—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education
• Demonstrated expertise working with students exhibiting significant challenging behaviors
• Previous experience within an EBD classroom or similar setting strongly preferred
• Deep understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
• Patience, adaptability, and exceptional communication skills
• Ability to foster a safe, structured, and nurturing environment

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs
• Create and maintain a proactive, positive classroom culture
• Employ effective, evidence-based teaching and behavioral strategies
• Collaborate with support staff, including a classroom aide, to ensure continuity of care and instruction
• Track student progress, modifying approaches as needed
• Communicate regularly with families and multi-disciplinary team members
• Respond to behavioral challenges with consistency, empathy, and professionalism
• Support students as their numbers grow within the classroom
