Special Education Teacher - Oak Lawn, Illinois

A unique opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education Teacher to provide coverage for a maternity leave this upcoming school year. Located near Oak Lawn and close to Evergreen Park, this contract role spans from August 10 through September 30, offering a focused and rewarding experience working with high school students.

In this pivotal position, you will be teaching English 3 in both co-taught and self-contained classroom settings. The role requires an adaptable, student-centered educator with strong classroom management and collaborative skills. You’ll be part of an inclusive educational community, supporting students’ growth and partnering with fellow educators to implement successful teaching strategies.

Qualifications:

• Active LBS1 certification required
• Experience in special education, particularly at the high school level
• Proficiency with co-teaching models as well as leading self-contained classes
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to quickly integrate into existing team and classroom routines
• Commitment to fostering student independence and academic success

Key Responsibilities:
