Special Education Teacher in Oak Lawn, IL

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher serving students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Located close to Oak Lawn, IL, this role is based within an Early Childhood Center and offers a supportive, collaborative environment focused on helping young learners achieve their fullest potential. The position begins as soon as possible and runs through May 28, 2027, with consistent hours from 8:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch), for a total of 35 hours per week.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois State Educator License with LBS1 Endorsement (required)
• At least two years of recent teaching experience, preferably in special education
• Experience creating and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Ability to collaborate effectively with related services staff
• Passion for fostering positive classroom environments and supporting diverse learning needs

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute lesson plans tailored to a variety of learning styles and needs
• Assess student progress, adapt instruction, and maintain thorough documentation
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers for student success
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and classroom activities
• Maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom culture
