Step into a meaningful role supporting middle school students with diverse learning needs as a Special Education Teacher. This contract opportunity focuses on an Intensive Resource program serving a small caseload of eight students in grades 6–8. You’ll collaborate within a supportive school setting near Olathe, designing and implementing individualized instruction for students who experience intellectual disabilities, autism, multiple disabilities, or other health impairments.

Key Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Kansas license in low incidence special education or unified licensure
  • Experience or strong interest in teaching students with significant and varied learning challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum, modify materials, and employ differentiated instruction strategies
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills for working with fellow educators, support staff, and families
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment

In this Middle School Special Education Teacher position, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
  • Deliver specialized instruction in both group and one-on-one settings
  • Modify curriculum and instructional materials for accessibility and engagement
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to foster student success
  • Support the social, behavioral, and academic growth of students with a range of abilities
  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and multidisciplinary teams
