Special Education Teacher - Oneonta, New York

Make a meaningful impact as a contract Special Education Teacher working with grades 7-12 in a supportive school environment near Oneonta, NY. This rewarding role begins September 1, 2026, just before students arrive on September 8, and continues through June 25, 2027. Work Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM – 3:00 PM, for approximately 34 hours each week.

Take on a dynamic position co-teaching and providing resource support, focusing primarily on 7th and 9th grade English Language Arts. Carry a manageable caseload of 15 students, with additional students joining for resource room periods. Your expertise in developing and implementing IEPs, conducting evaluations, and collaborating with related services staff will play a vital role in enriching students’ experiences.

Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Educator License with a Special Education Endorsement (required)
• Proficiency in writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Familiarity with student evaluations and re-evaluations
• Experience with ClearTrack (for IEP and Progress Monitoring) and Woodcock-Johnson (Riverside Insights) highly valued
• Minimum of 2 years recent teaching experience preferred
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Adapt and deliver instruction in co-taught and resource room settings for students in grades 7-12
• Manage student caseloads and ensure compliance with IEP goals
• Communicate and work closely with other educators, administrators, and support staff
• Utilize school-adopted assessment and tracking platforms to monitor progress
• Advocate for student needs and support their academic and social development
