Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting middle and high school students as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This position runs from September 1, 2026, through June 25, 2027, with students starting on September 8. The role offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, 7:45 AM to 3:00 PM, averaging about 34 hours per week.
You will be working primarily with 7th and 9th-grade students in resource and co-teaching English Language Arts settings, managing a caseload of 15 students (with additional resource room responsibilities). A strong background in writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating with related services, and participating in evaluations and re-evaluations is essential. Familiarity with ClearTrack for IEP and progress monitoring, as well as the Woodcock-Johnson assessment (Riverside Insights), will help you hit the ground running.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Educator License with Special Education Endorsement
- Experience crafting, implementing, and tracking IEPs
- Comfortable working with related services staff
- Minimum of two years’ recent teaching experience preferred
- Knowledge of ClearTrack and Woodcock-Johnson tools is highly valued
- Flexible, organized, and passionate about supporting students’ diverse learning needs
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and support in resource and co-teaching ELA classrooms for grades 7–12
- Manage IEPs, including evaluations and re-evaluations
- Partner with fellow educators and specialists to deliver comprehensive services
- Monitor, assess, and report student progress
