Pre K Special Education Teacher | Opelika, Alabama

Step into a vital role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year. This full-time, contract position focuses on an inclusive PreK classroom setting, serving up to 18 energetic four-year-olds, including both children with IEPs and their typical peers. Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification, appropriate for PreK or Early Childhood Special Ed
• Prior experience teaching or working with preschool-aged children, especially in inclusive settings
• Understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress-monitoring
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, staff, and families
• Ability to foster a positive, nurturing classroom culture
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet varying student needs
• Comfortable collaborating with paraprofessionals and related service providers

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to a diverse group of PreK students
• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student strengths and needs
• Adapt lessons and classroom activities for inclusion of students with varying abilities
• Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals to support each child’s development
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and goals
• Maintain accurate records and report on milestones as required by school policy
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities
