Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in special education, especially with elementary-aged students, preferred
- Knowledge of Life Skills programs and instruction for students with diverse abilities
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable collaborating with teachers, support staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction for elementary students in Life Skills programs
- Modify curriculum and teaching methods to suit student needs
- Prepare, maintain, and monitor IEPs, documenting student progress
- Work closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, and district specialists
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that encourages student independence
- Engage in regular communication with parents and caregivers regarding student achievements and goals
