Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting middle school students in an Intensive Communications Program within a collaborative, specialized setting. This full-time contract role (35 hours per week) spans from August 14th through November 1st, with the potential for extension. The classroom focuses on individuals with Autism and Intellectual Disability, serving a group of nine students who thrive on a life skills-centered curriculum. Two dedicated paraprofessionals support daily classroom activities and foster a positive learning environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Active LBS1 endorsement and Professional Educator License (PEL) required
• Experience working with students in autism or functional skills programs highly preferred
• Familiarity with functional and life skills curriculum, including Unique Learning
• Effective in a team-based setting, collaborating with paraprofessionals and specialists
• Capable of adapting instruction to meet individual student needs
• Strong communication skills with a commitment to individualized education plans

Core Responsibilities:

• Instruct and support middle school students focusing on life skills, communication, and independence
• Integrate curriculum components such as Unique Learning, along with practical skills (cooking, laundry, community field trips)
• Collaborate with colleagues and paraprofessionals to maintain a supportive, well-structured classroom climate
• Document student progress, communicate with families, and implement IEP goals
• Ensure a safe, encouraging environment for all learners
