Special Education Teacher - Orland Park, Illinois

Seeking a dedicated Special Education professional to provide essential support to high school students with mild to moderate learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorder in a dynamic educational environment. This full-time contract role is available immediately and extends through the 2026-2027 school year. You’ll work with students in grades 9-12, helping ensure educational goals are met while fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture.

The position offers flexibility with teaching models; you may choose between co-teaching or running your own self-contained classroom, with a caseload projected around 20–30 students (the caseload may decrease as the year advances). Work hours are 8:45 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday (lunch and planning period included), totaling 37.5 hours per week.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Illinois LBS1 certification required, covering grades 9–12
• Demonstrated knowledge of writing and managing IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
• Experience or desire to work with high school-aged students
• Ability to provide instruction to students with mild to moderate learning disabilities or ASD
• Bilingual abilities and previous high school or special education teaching experience are a plus
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction in alignment with IEP goals and curriculum standards
• Maintain accurate records and timely communication with staff and families
• Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and data collection
• Foster a supportive learning environment tailored to diverse student needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers and staff in a co-teaching or independent classroom model
