Step into a rewarding contract opportunity guiding middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in an Intensive Resource program. This position is designed for educators with the expertise and passion to support a diverse group of learners, including students with intellectual disabilities, autism, other health impairments, or multiple disabilities. With a manageable caseload of just 8 students across grades 6 through 8, you’ll have the time and resources needed to provide personalized instruction and make a lasting impact.
What We’re Seeking:
- Active Kansas licensure in low incidence special education or unified licensure (required)
- Experience in or enthusiasm for working with students in grades 6–8 who have varied learning and behavioral needs
- Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and evidence-based teaching practices
- Excellent communication skills for engaging students, collaborating with families, and working alongside other professionals
- Flexibility, compassion, and commitment to supporting each student’s growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP, adapting materials and strategies to individual needs
- Implement behavior support plans and monitor student progress regularly
- Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and general education staff
- Communicate proactively with students’ families and participate in IEP meetings
- Cultivate a classroom environment that is supportive, inclusive, and structured to maximize student learning
