Special Education Teacher | Owens Cross Roads, Alabama

Embark on a meaningful contract role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year, starting as soon as possible. This full-time opportunity involves delivering specialized instruction and case management in a dynamic district with diverse SPED program settings, including resource/collaborative and self-contained classrooms. While the specific school, grade level, and caseload will be determined upon placement, you'll join a district invested in robust special education support, with guidance from resource specialists and a dedicated coordinator.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Active Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in Special Education, or eligibility for state certification/reciprocity
• Proficiency with IEP development, implementation, and documentation
• Skilled in progress monitoring, accommodations/modifications, and ongoing case management
• Experience engaging with parents and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Flexible mindset—comfortable working in both resource/collaborative and self-contained settings
• Previous experience managing IEP caseloads and utilizing behavioral support strategies is highly valued

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and academic support tailored to students’ IEP goals
• Oversee all aspects of case management, including timely and accurate documentation
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and administration
• Monitor student progress, adapt instructional strategies, and implement accommodations as required
• Maintain open communication with families, providing updates and support
• Contribute to team meetings and professional development opportunities as available
