Special Education Teacher | Painesville, Ohio

Make a meaningful impact in a K-2 self-contained classroom, primarily serving second graders, as a contract Special Education Teacher. This is a full-time opportunity to empower young learners with multiple handicaps (MH), including several students who are nonverbal, supporting their growth and development with patience and creativity.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification with eligibility to work in Ohio
• Experience as a Special Education Teacher, especially in classrooms serving students with multiple handicaps or significant support needs
• Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Comfort and experience working with nonverbal students, employing alternative and augmentative communication strategies where necessary
• Strong collaboration skills to partner with support staff, therapists, and families
• Compassion, adaptability, and excellent communication skills

What You’ll Do:

• Provide instruction and individualized programming for students in a K-2 self-contained setting
• Design and adapt curriculum to meet the unique learning needs of each child, with a focus on functional academics, social skills, and independence
• Utilize visual supports, assistive technology, and sensory strategies to foster engagement
• Track and report student progress, collaborating on IEPs and integrating recommendations from related services personnel
• Create a structured, positive classroom environment that supports safety and learning
• Foster strong connections with families, communicating student progress and needs regularly
