Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in an in-person setting at a well-established educational program in the Hornell, NY area. This assignment is ideal for a dedicated educator with expertise in teaching students with Emotional Disabilities (ED) and a passion for making a positive difference in their academic journey. The role is full-time, spanning 35 hours per week from September 8, 2026, to October 30, 2026.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current, active New York State Special Education Teaching license with all necessary endorsements and certifications
- Demonstrated experience teaching middle or high school students, particularly those with Emotional Disabilities (ED)
- Familiarity with IEP implementation and progress monitoring
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to various learning styles
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student records
- Open to working fully onsite in a school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to students in grades 11-12 with Emotional Disabilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports academic and social-emotional growth
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure students’ success
- Manage daily classroom routines and maintain accurate documentation of student progress
- Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities
