An exciting opportunity is available for an Elementary Special Education Teacher to make an immediate impact in a supportive resource classroom. This is a contract position covering a maternity leave, expected for 6 weeks with possible extension up to 2 months. Working 37.5 hours per week, including lunch and prep time, you’ll follow a consistent daily schedule from 8:25am to 3:10pm, providing targeted support to students in need.
You will join a dedicated educational team and work directly with a manageable caseload of 14 students, typically collaborating with small groups of 4-5 at a time. This position is perfect for Special Education professionals who thrive on individualized instruction and value student-centered progress.
Qualifications:
- Current Rhode Island Special Education Certification (K-6 required)
- Demonstrated experience in elementary resource rooms or similar environments
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and resource room models
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to provide engaging, differentiated instruction in small group settings
- Flexible, positive approach to working in a dynamic school setting
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students with varying needs
- Implement and monitor IEPs, documenting progress meticulously
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate strategies across settings
