This position is based in Providence, RI, with 35 hours weekly, and is designed for caring educators who inspire growth and confidence in diverse learners. Depending on district needs, your assignment could be in a Resource/Inclusion setting—guiding students with mild to moderate disabilities alongside peers in the general curriculum— or leading a Self-Contained classroom.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license appropriate for the relevant grade band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary).
- Ability to meet Right to Read Act requirements: certified in—or able to attain within twelve months—Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency.
- Experience working with elementary-age students in special education environments.
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and communication skills.
- Passion for fostering student independence and academic progress.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, and families to support student success and inclusion.
- Provide direct instruction, behavioral support, and progress monitoring in either a Resource/Inclusion model or Self-Contained classroom.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws, documentation, and reporting.
- Support an inclusive, engaging, and productive classroom environment.
