This contract opportunity spans the academic year from August 3, 2026, to June 4, 2027, offering a chance to make a lasting difference as an Intensive Learning Community Lead Teacher in a K-8 setting. You will lead a small team of 2-3 dedicated aides in a self-contained classroom designed for students who require substantial support, especially those with autism and complex communication, behavioral, adaptive, academic, and motor needs.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working in self-contained classrooms, preferably serving students with significant support needs
- Solid understanding of strategies for supporting students with autism, including implementation of communication supports and AAC devices
- Familiarity with developing and maintaining structured routines and behavioral support plans
- Strong leadership skills; prior experience overseeing instructional aides is a plus
- Excellent communication, flexibility, and a nurturing approach
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction focused on communication, social skills, behavior management, adaptive skills, academics, and motor skill development
- Oversee and provide guidance to classroom aides, ensuring consistent, high-quality support for all students
- Develop and implement structured classroom routines, clear expectations, and specialized interventions
- Create and adapt instructional materials to accommodate students’ unique needs and learning styles
- Foster a safe, caring, and predictable environment that prioritizes consistency and student well-being
- Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams to support student progress and growth
