This opportunity spans the 2026-2027 academic year, with a strong focus on supporting elementary-aged students in self-contained settings, as well as high school placements available. Classrooms typically serve 4-6 students with tailored supports for varying disabilities and IQ levels.

This role involves working closely with a collaborative special education team, utilizing evidence-based strategies to empower students to reach their full potential. Your expertise is vital in ensuring an inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Alabama SPED licensure—verify via state credentialing; must match assignment age group (K-6 for Elementary, 6-12 for Secondary)
  • Experience supporting students in self-contained settings strongly preferred, especially at the elementary level
  • Passion for individualized instruction and student advocacy
  • Exceptional communication and documentation skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with a diverse range of needs
  • Foster a positive, structured classroom environment supporting social, emotional, and academic development
  • Track student progress and collaborate with staff, therapists, and families
  • Adjust teaching strategies to best serve learners’ unique strengths and challenges
  • Participate in school meetings, professional development, and team planning
